Hooray for ghosts in games!

Years ago, I posted on PlayStation forums how much I'd love to see some ghosts in videogames. The post I made was shortly before SOCOM3 came out. I wanted to have Alpha and Bravo team encounter a ghost and be scared shitless. I guess Sony didn't read my post, or wasn't interested.

There were some ghosts in Final Fantasy XI, not just the ones that attacked you, but there was a ghost of a little boy in....I can't remember where, some place where teams go in to battle something nasty, and almost always get killed trying.

Today, I'm playing Assassin's Creed III, which, in my opinion, Ubisoft distributed way too early. There are so many glitches and....that's another story. Anyway, I knocking out all the Frontiersmen mission, and there was a mission to investigate a ghost at a lighthouse. I was disappointed to find it was only a sheet draped over a small tree placed on the Widows Walk. Creepy, but disappointing.

The next Frontiersmen mission was to investigate a sighting of the Headless Horseman. I'm like: Another boring fake ghost hunt. I travel to site where the beast was last seen, and found a skinny man with no head laying on the ground (presumably Ichabod Crane). Once I interacted with it, a cutscene started which showed that nearby to Connor's location, a rider, dressed in black, with a pumpkin for a head, with green light shining through a smile carved into the rind, atop a black horse, reared up as the horse belts out a whinny and the horseman's maniacal laugh echoes through the valley.

It was real! Hooray for ghosts in games. It's a welcome change from the ordinary.
